Impact measurement of challenge fund Product and Package Innovation Competition (PPIC) for tourism MSMEs across 7 different regions in Myanmar.
We led the evaluation of a DFID funded Matching Grants programme for Tourism MSMEs in Myanmar.
The Grant fund (approximately GBP 0.43 million) promoted inclusive tourism business models through the Product & Package Innovation Competition (PPIC) so that tourism businesses could develop products and packages that are commercially viable, innovative and inclusive. It also provided technical support to businesses through training, technical assistance and grant funding.
We assessed the performance of 46 tourism businesses that were part of the grant scheme and developed products and packages supported through the facility. We developed evaluation design, data mining, and analysis of MSMEs’ business financial viability and areas of inclusion to assess the financial and social impact of the fund to the MSMEs. We conducted poverty impact assessment of the businesses through employment generation and additional income earnings.
